Mayor Wallace is serving his third term as the Mayor of Sugar Land. Prior to his election, he represented District 4 as a City Council Member. Mayor Wallace was recently sworn in by Secretary Michael Chertoff as a member of the Department of Homeland Security Advisory Council State and Local Officials Senior Advisory Committee. He was also appointed by Governor Rick Perry to the Board of Directors for the Texas Economic Development Corporation. He serves on the Board of Directors & Executive Committee for the Fort Bend Economic Development Corporation. Mayor Wallace is Co-Chairman of the National Homeland Security Task Force and member & past Co-Chairman of the Urban Water Council for the United States Conference of Mayors. Mr. Wallace serves as a trustee member of the United States Conference of Mayors Executive Committee. Additionally, he serves on the U.S. Conference of Mayors committees for Audit & Finance, Urban Economic Policy, Membership, and Arts, Park, Entertainment & Sports. Mr. Wallace has also served as a member of the Investment Advisory Board for the Texas Treasury Safekeeping Trust Company, as well as member of the Texas Municipal League Task Force on Eminent Domain/Regulation of Development.
Mayor Wallace is the Chief Executive Officer for Wallace Bajjali Development Partners, LP and has served on the Board of Directors and held numerous leadership positions in non-profit, public and private companies.
Mayor Wallace received his BBA in Real Estate Finance from the University of North Texas. Additionally, Mayor Wallace attended Union College in Schenectady, New York, and received a scholarship to study International Real Estate, International Finance and International Law at the University of Reading, England.
Mayor Wallace has lived in Sugar Land since 1993 with his wife, Kathy and two daughters. |
|  |  |  | Barkat Charania, a medical doctor, has earned formal Postgraduate degrees in Surgery, and Law. However, informally, he has been student of History, Philosophy, Logic, and Entrepreneurship. Dr. Charania got trained as an Orthopedic Surgeon in United Kingdom, and practiced surgery for 30 years. While practicing the profession, he simultaneously established a 200-bedded private hospital facility with all its ancillary services, like ICU, CCU, ORs, X Ray and Laboratory departments. He was CEO of this facility for 16 years.
Dr. Charania served as director and then as advisor to International Council for Control of Iodine Deficiency Disorders (ICCIDD), Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF. In these capacities he attended several senior level country specific and general consultation meetings in different countries, including Belgium, China, Egypt, India, Iran, Switzerland, Tanzania, and Pakistan. Project to eradicate IDD from Northern areas of Pakistan was personally executed by him with the help of AKF volunteers.
While being Hon Secretary and Treasurer with Society of Surgeons of Pakistan, he organized three International Symposia. He taught graduate and postgraduate students at Aga Khan University, and College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan. He has co-edited, authored and published three books, several original research articles in Medical Journals, and has written Editorials for Surgical Journals by invitation.
While his deep rooted pursuit of Philosophy, Logic and History continues unabated, and while he remains an Entrepreneur at core, Dr. Charania presently serves on the Boards of various organizations involved in Real Estate investments and development, trading of Fuel Products and Electricity, Healthcare Delivery and Banking. He possesses a well-rounded experience of initiating, strategizing, and managing, while bringing worldly wisdom from his real life experiences to Altus HMS. | |  |  | | Mr. Khan, co-founder and Managing Director of TAKtical International and its group of companies. Mr. Khan personally has over 18 years of corporate finance and public equity experience.
Mr. Khan started in the Financial Industry as a Stockbroker in January of 1987. Specializing in providing investment advice to high net-worth individuals, Mr. Khan built a respectable clientele, many of which continue to do business with him even today. In December of 1996, Mr. Khan left the brokerage business to become the Managing Director of Manhattan West, Inc. (“MWI”). MWI is a corporate and financial consulting firm specializing in helping young growth companies with their financial and corporate needs. The typical MWI client is either a private company being groomed to go public within 12 months of MWI’s involvement or a public company that needs to be financially or corporately restructured. From 1996 to 2001, MWI assisted over seven companies in going public. In January of 1998, Mr. Khan purchased Manhattan West, Inc. and became its sole officer and shareholder. In 2005, Manhattan West was acquired by TAKtical International and re-branded as TAKtical Advisory Group Inc. At Manhattan West, Mr. Khan helped structure Mirage Holdings (now NetSol, Intl. - NTWK) and played a key role in putting together the Board of Directors and hiring the officers. He also raised the initial financing for the Company and helped the Company identify an investment banker to take them public. Mr. Khan also played a key role in negotiating the acquisition of Network Solutions (PVT), Ltd. and NetSol UK, PLC. As a result of his efforts with NTWK, Mr. Khan is the first person to successfully take any IT Company public from Pakistan. At its peak, NTWK went from a $3 million valuation to a high of over $300 million. As a result of this accomplishment, Mr. Khan received significant recognition and several articles have appeared on his endeavors in the press. In late 1999, Mr. Khan founded Los Angeles based EssTec, Inc. as a technology solutions provider focusing on creating products and solutions for wireless devices such as handheld computers, cell phones and Palm Pilots. In 2001, as the technology industry went through a global collapse, EssTec re-focused its efforts on Medical Collaboration Software and off-shore product development using facilities based in Lahore, Pakistan. In April of 2003, EssTec was acquired for over $20,000,000 in stock by Alpha Virtual, Inc., a U.S. listed public company. Mr. Khan has sat on numerous advisory boards of both Public and Private companies internationally and is considered an authority in the structuring of public equity financings. In addition to currently being the sole shareholder in Manhattan West, Inc., Mr. Khan was instrumental in the creation of Manhattan Capital Partners, LLC. (“MCP”), a corporate strategy and advisory firm based in Los Angeles, California; as well as being an initial investor in London based Beaufort International, an FSA regulated corporate finance firm. | |  |  | Mr. Anwar-i-Qadeer is engaged in the private practice of law in Houston. He received his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from Punjab University Law College, Master of Laws (L.L.M.) degree from the University of Virginia Law School, and Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) degree from the University of Houston Law Center. After attending law school, in 1982 he joined the law firm of Dickerson, Hamel, Early & Pennock. In 1989, he joined the law firm of Walsh, Squires & Tompkins. Kevin’s responsibilities as Administrator of Altus HMS will be similar. He will manage overall operations of the three entities planned for the Beaumont center – OPREX Ambulatory Surgery Center, Clarus Imaging Center, and Zerenity Sleep Center. His goal for the center is to bring state-of-the-art healthcare services, with an improved level of convenience and efficiency, serving communities in the Golden Triangle area. Kevin holds a BS degree in Medical Technology and an MBA from Lamar University. He also holds the status of Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives. | |  | |  |  | Dr. Pasha is a Board Certified Ear, Nose, and Throat - Head and Neck Surgeon with extensive training and research experience. He is a sole author of a highly rated comprehensive review book on his specialty.
To receive certification from the American Board of Otolaryngology, Dr. Pasha completed an undergraduate degree, four years of medical school at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, with an internship at Wayne State School of Medicine, Department of Surgery. He finished his residency at Wayne State School of Medicine, Department of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery.
Dr. Pasha has been published in many medical journals. He has completed research in many institutions including The Cleveland Clinic, Texas Medical Center, Detroit Medical Center, and Ohio State University. His most famous achievement was the publication of a review book on his Ear, Nose, and Throat-Head and Neck Surgery. | |  |  | Dr. Badar completed her premedical training at Texas A&M after which she obtained her medical doctorate at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in 1993. She stayed on and completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine in 1996 and her fellowship in Pulmonary & Critical care medicine in 1999. It was during her fellowship that she was mentored by a nationally renowned sleep physician. Soon thereafter her interest in sleep medicine became an important addition to her clinical repertoire. After completion of her post medical training, she went on to become an assistant professor and the sleep director at UTMB which included a satellite sleep clinic in Clear Lake.
In 2002, to work closer to her home in Houston, she went into private practice in the southwest area. She has served on numerous committees at Southwest Memorial Hospital, including the credentials committee and the critical care committee. She also spent time in the world of tele-medicine as part of the electronic ICU team which looks over nearly all of the Memorial system’s icu’s.
She was nominated physician of the year and has been voted ICU physician of the month at Memorial Southwest Hospital. In 2006 she was voted one of the top pulmonolgists in Houston as featured in Houston Magazine’s “Top Docs” issue. Dr. Badar is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases, Critical Care Medicine and Sleep Medicine.
